Project Gallery - Country Cottage
The drawing room was built onto the cottage in 1990 and like all rooms it has evolved over the years. The latest addition was the "arts and craft" oak fire surround which was sourced locally from a reclamation yard and the antiqued floorboards were removed from the roof of a railway shed in Wiltshire.
Neutral linens, paisley throws and subtle paint shades create a calm and tranquil air to this traditional cottage.
A dramatic south facing bay window looks onto the garden and linen roman sheers can be lowered to soften the sunlight.
The paintings are lit by picture lights and add colour to this restful interior.
The lamps and crystal chandelier add contemporary touches to a country home.
The kitchen was re-modeled when a small glass and stone extension was added in 2005. It allows a natural light to stream into the cottage kitchen where an AGA radiates heat through the winter months.
The floor is Cotswold stone locally sourced and laid in traditional squares with a diamond insert. Granite work surfaces, leather bound handles and solid oak dresser complete the scheme.
The guest shower room has a very modern touch, Phillip Stack vanity basin, mirror and Matki shower enclosure.
The walls are faced in grey honed limestone and the floor is Wenge floor planks by Amtico.
The Master bedroom has strong, traditional elements, the variable width T&G planks and window shuters are painted French grey.
The Lit Bateau sleigh bed and antique telescope add a masculine touch to a very simple, restful interior.
Again, the master bathroom has very contemporary finishes, the standing feature Phillip Stack bath and floor mounted tap.
The bright white of the modern 'Belfast' style basin and side table contrast with the solid oak floor and column radiator.
